Today, 23rd April is St. George's Day !!

In celebration of the Patron Saint of England, I have decided to be patriotic and use my English made camera - 'Box Ensign 2 1/4 B'.

These beautiful box cameras appeared in 1923 until about 1930.

A basic camera made of cardboard with a meniscus lens and a wire view finder.

They are capable of taking wonderful pictures on 120 roll film.  8 negatives measuring 6 x 9cm.

Later models came in black as well as the brown.

When this camera appeared on the market in 1923, it cost 10/6  (10 shillings & 6 pence)

In 1923, 20 shillings made £1, (That is £54-10 in today's money - 2018).
So, therefore, 10 shillings = £27 in 2018  !!

£27 for basically a cardboard box with a basic lens and only takes 8 exposures!

Would you buy this for £27 ??    -    I certainly would !!

Here are some of the photo's I took using this camera -
